We live in cycles, and life cycles have become the cause for having our Collectibles more and more frequently. We start our Collectibles auctions this year with a double auction happening back to back one week after another.

We commence with the sale of the Property of a Gentleman on Sunday, May 24th, 2015 at the gentleman’s spacious penthouse apartment in the center of Jakarta. Some pieces out of the eighty-four lots featured in this session have been in the house of the gentleman’s parents since before he was born. However, most of the various luxurious furniture and decorative items that have been collected throughout a period of forty years in the cities he and his late wife have lived: Basel, Hong Kong and Jakarta.

As the gentleman and his wife loved to decorate their abode with the most elegant, beautiful and luxurious items, participating in this auction will certainly be quite an experience. When else would you be bidding 100 meters above ground?

Session Two will be held at the Tugu Kunstkring Paleis on May 31st, 2015. While there will be some ceramics, decorative items, textiles, books and prints in this sale, most of the items will be furniture. While there are some Javanese and Palembang furniture, there are also some furniture with Chinese and European influences as well.

In this auction we will also feature two vintage automobiles, a 1961 Volkswagen Beetle that has been modified into a limousine (lot #287) , and a 1976 Mercedes-Benz 280 two-door coupe (lot #288). This will be the first time we will be auctioning automobiles, and we hope to attract the attention and participation of automobile enthusiasts.

This year marks the eighth year of the passing of the prominent Indonesian singer Chrisye (16 September 1949 – 30 Maret 2007). Not long after his death in 2007, we auctioned off an iconic photograph of the artist, taken by his friend, photographer Tara Sosrowardoyo. This year, in his memory, we will auction of one of his most favorite possessions: his very own Fender Jazz Bass (lot #246). He purchased it in the mid 1970s, just as his prominence as a musician was rising. While the instrument itself is already a “collector’s item”, the fact that it was one of the most favorite musical instruments of one of the most popular and loveable Indonesian musician, certainly adds value. His family hopes that it finds a new home in the collection of a caring collector.

We will do our best in making sure that you will find both of our auction sessions most enjoyable. Make sure you do not miss it!

Happy viewing and joyful bidding!
