Time flies fast this year, and now we are presenting the final Artfordable Auction in 2008. Among 199 selections, we are offering special works of emerging talents in Indonesia. In this selection we are highlighting contemporary art works and friendship theme some of which are reflected through the companion of pets or the presence of animals.
Some young talented artists’ works that we are featuring include Dandi’s new works Dog Series and Boy’s Best Friend that are reflecting emotional bonding between a little boy and his dog. The interaction between the two will captivate viewers to wonder what the story is behind the paintings. Buddy Siswanto in his painting also features a colorful spotted dog with a spiky collar. We also have a piece by Guntur Timur titled Fish, and Bukan Sang Pemburu (not a hunter) by Iskandar Y.S. Another beautifully done work is by Rosar, Angon Bebek (duck herding).
For those who love felines, we feature a piece of painting by S. Lumbung that displays various looks and expression of cats in of enchanting works titled Cat Championship. Each cat is visualized in a small canvas. Then the artist has aesthetically put small canvases together, resulting in an attention grabbing work. M. Bahlia also captured a cat in his painting Kucing Belang, and cat also featured in the work by Faizal Mask & Cat.
The role of animals is important in Chinese horoscope. In regard to this, Erica has created 12 Shio (the 12 Cihinese horoscopes) in red background. Another of hers is Panen di Yogya (harvest in Yogya) which she does not forget to picture the presence of a cow as one of the most contributive animals in our life.
Kiki Rizki, young artist from Bandung shows untitled set of four panels, picturing orange skies. Another new artist in town is Shaun Parker from South Africa. He is an architect as well as a painter. Although he is relatively new in Jakarta, many of his works hang in private collections in cities across the globe, including Amsterdam, Jakarta, Johannesburg, London, Riyadh, Vienna and Washington DC, and countries as far spread as Jamaica, Namibia and Kenya. We have selected two of his works - Question 1 and Question 2. The white nuance and overlay color technique of the two paintings are inseparable. They should be closely displayed under the same roof. We are also featuring one sculpture in this collection, a piece by a new comer, Phillips Budiman with his interpretation of Her Three Children.
Our collections is also enriched with the works of known contemporary artists such as Tisna Sanjaya Pesta Pencuri (thief party), Ronggeng Gunung (mountain Ronggeng dancer), and untitled set of three by Ugo Untoro, S. Teddy D with Pingpong Artist, Jopram whose work titled Memimpikan Kebebasan (dream for freedom), and Utomo Fly.
