This unique painting of outrigger boats was painted
motinggo BuSye
(Kupangkota, 1937 - Lampung, 1999) by Motinggo Busye, a prominent Indonesian
novelist and film producer. It was purchased during
Perahu (Boats) the artist’s exhibition at Taman Ismail Marzuki in
the 1980s. This painting comes from the
1991 collection of the late Chaerul Sjarfi, the owner of
oil on canvas
70 x 90 cm Galeri Saraswati in South Jakarta.
Motinggo Busye had been interested in the fine arts
signed and dated (lower left): since the 1950s. Together with Delsy Syamsumar,
”Motinggo Busye 1991”
he was known to have studied under Wakidi.
Rp. 5 - 7.500.000 Apparently an art exhibition in Padang in 1954,
featured 15 of his paintings.
