Flowers - Depiction of a somber flowers
A quiet tension fills the canvas. Against a muted background, a fragile row of
flowers stands—some petals curling inward, others stretching open as if to
catch unseen light. Popo Iskandar’s brush captures both decline and
renewal, refusing to tell which moment we witness. The stems bend with
a feline grace, echoing the elegant curves that mark his better-known cat
paintings. Here, however, the subject is still life on the edge of time—caught
between breath and silence. In this ambiguity, Iskandar reveals his mastery:
life and death are not opposites, but intertwined gestures in the same con-
templative act.
